- When are you coming back to the gym?
Andrew Fonfara: I feel pretty good after my last fight so probably I will rest for couple of days and then resume my trainings. I am ready to fight again in May, and I would like to invite everyone to come and watch me fight.
- Now since you won your last fight can you tell us what advices Andrzej Golota gave you?
AF: Sure, two most important things he told me to do were to use my left hand and “dance” in the ring. I think I did a good job especially in the first round where you could see my footwork. Andrzej Golota is very supportive for me. He called me before the fight and he wished me the best luck. Basically I was raised by watching his fights. He was, is and always will be my idol. When I was younger I always wonder how it feels to fight before such a big audience and what would I do if I had a chance like that. My dreams came true on my last fight.
- How did you feel about fighting before that large audience?
AF: I never fought before such a large Polish audience. The atmosphere was incredible and it motivated me even more to win. I had a great support from all people which I am very grateful for. I felt like I was fighting in Poland. Also I would like to thank all of my friends and fans who came all the way from Chicago to support me.
- Did you fought according to the plan?
AF: Yes, as we established with Sam first rounds I fought steady and I kept Smith on the distance. After couple of right hand hard punches I saw the he is becoming more and more tired and so I step back and came back with left hook. And that was it, fourth round and another victory.
Sam Collona about Andrzeju Fonara;
- Since the beginning I knew that he is super talented, even though no one gave him any credit. Andrzej from fight to fight is becoming stronger and he is improving upon his style. I am very proud of him.
