MASTERNAK GRINDS DOWN AGAIN
Mateusz Masternak (20-0, 15 KO) showed great boxing and proved again that he is already preapred to face greatest names in the cruiserweight division. The Pole stopped Levan Jomardashvili (20-1, 16 KO) in the fifth round of the battle for the interim WBC Youth title which took place in Kielce, Poland.
Masternak gained a firm advantage from the very beginning of the fight. Although Jomardashvili, previously undefeated, was striving to menace the 23-year old prospect with his left hooks, Masternak was skilfully avoiding the punches, thanks to a solid footwork. The WBC #10 rated Pole was effectively reciprocating, dealing straight rights. In the third round, Mateusz threw a powerful liver shot which seemed to be the first hard moment for the Georgian rival.
No sooner had the fourth round started than Masternak repeated the successful hook. When Jomardashvili was endeavoring to clench, the Pole dealt a right hook and the Georgian landed on the canvas. A few moments later, the referee, Grzegorz Molenda was counting him again. Despite the ambitious approach, Jomardashvil had to give up in the next round. The powerful right to the rival's chin finished the impressive performance of the Pole.
